  1. The role play encyclopedia development is something you can (and others have) actually do 'for real' with Wikipedia. I've heard of many classes that have researched their own community or school and created a Wikipedia page for it. The authentic and collaborative effort is really engaging. You may not realize but there is actually a cadre of volunteers who monitor Wikipedia pages and entries making corrections, as discovered, or taking down pages when appropriate. What a fabulous 'real world' experience for students.

It is amazing to consider how the internet has become so important in our lives - it is ubiquitous and expected. Just think how hard it is to communicate, research, and be entertained without it! :)
